Hi ladies! I just remembered this board was here and look forward to the advice and support you ladies have to offer during this pregnancy.
A little about myself...
I had deathly low platelets when I was pregnant with DS. I was sent to a large hospital 2 hours from home (we live in the country with small hospitals around). I was in the hospital for a week trying to get them back up to a safe level so I could deliver. The day I was to be induced, the doctors decided to do an ultrasound to see how DS was and we found out he was breech then. I was the first Csection the next morning. They did not want to do a version because of my platelets and not knowing what the baby's platelets were. They told me I could have a VBAC with my next pregnancy.
I told my OB (that I see who is close to my house) that I wanted a VBAC, and she said that since I had a Csection with DS that I'd HAVE to have another Csection and wouldn't even talk with me about a VBAC. Plus, she told me a horror story about a VBAC. (Who says this to a pregnant lady?!?!) I had planned on delivering this baby at the hospital that is 2 hours away just because the care I got with DS was so amazing and they took me in when nobody seemed to know what to do about my situation. Now I am definitely changing OB's to my high risk doctors 2 hours away!
My only question is when during the pregnancy would you switch doctors? I don't want to wait too late but it is also a 2 hour drive.
Re: Introduction with a question
Welcome!
I'd at least go have a consult with the new doctor ASAP. Explain the situation and see if you can work it out to get some of your prenatal care at home. Maybe you can switch to the new doc in the third trimester or only go there for certain appointments until the end, or something like that. You want to know as soon as you can whether the new doctor is going to support your VBAC wishes. Don't assume anything based on what they said when your son was born--ask a lot of questions.
GL!
