Maid of Honor at 21 weeks!!

I'm the maid of honor in a wedding in January where I will be 21 weeks along. I'm afraid that I will have started to show and that my dress won't fit. It's tighter around the middle, but not too tight. Does anyone have any advice? Is there anything i can put underneath?

Re: Maid of Honor at 21 weeks!!

  • Girl I will be 26 weeks as a bridesmaid... It sucks!!  I would love to drop out of the wedding as I barely know the girl.  The dress is NOT preggo friendly and cost me $150.  Not including alterations which will be out the wazoo for a pregnant girl.  :(  Just talk to the bridal shop and they will tell you what size to get and they will take care of ya!

Ok on a more serious note, did you order the dress already? If you haven't then I would talk to the bridal shop, it may be smarter to go one size up and take in the big parts then trying to take out a dress where there may not be enough fabric. A lot of bridesmaid dresses have extra fabric at the seams so it can be taken in/out more than another dress would need to be. Good luck!

2nd BFP- July 2011.  Chemical Pregnancy
3rd BFP- Sep 2011. My beautiful son was born May 2012.

  • Best thing is to have it altered as close to the wedding as possible. I will be a bridesmaid in my friends wedding 5 days before Im due.... (unless I go early...) needless to say, Ill be taking advantage of the place she is getting the dresses from, being able to alter as close as one week before the day.

  • I was a bridesmaid around that point in my last pregnancy.  Fortunately the dress was pretty flattering for a pregnant belly.  Just keep in mind that most bridesmaid dresses are designed the be altered either in or out.  So get the number of a good seamstress!
  • Yes, I have ordered the dress already and it was over $180 Tongue Tied The bride is my BFF and I would have paid anything she asked us to, but doing that twice would be a lot!! Hopefully the bridal shop is leniant and won't give me grief...lord knows I've seen that happen at other bridal shops when I was getting married.

  • Ahhh I would suggest a dress with more room. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding at 14 weeks and was showing. I wore a maternity dress.

  • Where is your dress from? I had to exchange a dress from Davids Bridal for this reason and it was fine. With the right alterations almost any dress can be pregnancy friendly.

  • I'm due 6/4 and my best friend's wedding is 5/19. I will be 37 weeks pregnant. I plan to order my bridesmaids dress as late as possible and get a couple sizes up, and just plan to have it altered.

  • My dress is from a little boutique shop in crystal. They make you sign a waiver and everything when you order the dress. I guess I will have to call and see what they say!

  • At 20 weeks with a second you will be showing, it's a question of how much. I'd call and see what the shop says.
