I will probably be triggering tomorrow night, Friday at the latest. My friend is a nurse and will be doing the shot for me but I'm still super nervous about it. Any tips? Did you ice the area before hand? I'm using novarel.
I am also super nervous about ER. I've never been under general anesthesia before. The nurse said they'll put something in my IV to prevent nausea but that a s/e from that may be constipation. I'm just worried about how I'll feel in general when I wake up and everything. I am so excited to actually make it to this point but scared none the less! Sorry if this is a wall of text. TIA!

Re: Trigger & ER worries
I didn't do anything special for the trigger --- no icing/heating/etc. It was just another day, another shot.
My ER experience was great. I woke up and felt a little drunk, but that subsided after about 30 minutes. More than anything it was like I had had a nice nap. I didn't spot or have any cramps, but I was constipated. I took Senokot for a few days (per my RE's rec) and was fine.
IVF 1 April 2011 - Cancelled
IVF 1.5 July 2011 - MC

Here we go again...IVF 3 is underway!
The shot looks worse that it is...I promise!!
As far as ER, I have always been under "twilight" so not totally knocked out. I did sleep thru the whole thing, but I guess if they ask you a question you will still answer, which I think is creepy but whatever.
I usually feel tired the rest of the day. I always bring extra strength tylenol (did i spell that right, probably not) and take 2 as soon as they allow me to.
Good luck!!!

The shot will be fine....no worry!
You won't be under general, u are still breathing on ur own. You will just wake up from a nap. Don't worry about that.
I always iced before trigger. It's definitely not as bad as it looks.
ER was always pretty much a breeze, but I was always a little nervous too. It's just like taking a little nap and then you wake up in recovery. I did get nausea after my first ER, with my second they gave me the anti-nausea med and it did make me constipated, but both the nausea and constipation were mild and went away quickly.
Good luck! I really hope this is it for you!!!
I iced for the trigger shot the same as I did for all the stim shots. It was no different except for me obsessing over taking it at the exact minute they told me...lol.
As for the ER, the worst part for me (both times) has been getting my IV started. After that's done, the rest is easy. Upon waking, I'd feel sleepy and crampy, but overall ok. I'm back to normal the next day.
Good luck!

Hey UMich! I'm so happy for you that you're almost there!
I haven't been under general for ERs - knocked out, but breathing on my own. I was shaking with nerves the first time, but it really is just getting an IV and then waking from a nap. I had much more cramping the second time when I woke, but nothing worse than AF-type cramps.
Good luck, and I'll be thinking of you this weekend!

I had myself in a big tizzy all day over that trigger shot. DH and I made the mistake of watching the how to video on the pharmacy page. It had me so freaked out over the needle. I felt really stupid for being so freaked out once he actually did the shot. It wasn't a big deal at all. For me, it was easier than the Bravelle/Menopur ones. I just layed down and let him do the shot. It just pinched for a second when the needle went in. No burning like with the Menopur. It was over before I knew it. So easy! Don't get all worked up about it. You'll be fine!!
For the ER, I remember the Dr giving me my IV. Then they wheeled me into the room. The Dr asked me a question and the next thing I remember was being in the recovery room. I felt fine afterwards, just a little light headed. Later that day, I was crampy and a little constipated. Drink lots of gatorade and eats lots of fiber. You'll do great!
Good luck! So happy you're almost there!
I never ice before the shot. DH massages a little afterwards.
In terms of going under, I've done twilight sedation. You get an IV, it gets inserted in IV along with any anti-nausea meds and sometimes painkillers.
It is over pretty quickly and you will feel groggy and crampy. Heating pad will help with any pain in ab area.
