Success after IF

Does your toddler sleep w/ blanket over head?

I hate this.  I know he's old enough to remove it if necessary, but he'll sleep like that for a long time!  I can't stand having anything even near my mouth when I'm sleeping (feel like I'm suffocating), so I don't get it.  He has a small blanket (baby blanket my mom made him) that he uses as a lovey and he'll wrap the whole thing around his head (mouth included).  It's knit, so it is breathable, but still...mama no likey.

Re: Does your toddler sleep w/ blanket over head?

  • Mine likes his pillow over his head and it bugs me enough that I go in and remove it before I go to sleep for the night. He only does it when he is falling asleep so it isn't an issue in the middle of the night as much. I like my blanket over my head so I know where DS gets it from, still freaks me out though.

Garrison is a 22 year old college kid stuck in a freakishly tall 2 year old's body.

Every morning when we go in to get her (if she isn't awake yet, which is about half the time) she has the blanket over her head and when she hears us, she peels it away slowly and then shouts "no!" and puts it back over her head.  Cracks me up.  I'm not worried about it, and it is actually a somewhat thick blanket, but I know she can breathe under there.  During warmer months she just has it over her head, now at least it is over her body and head.

  • We are in Hawaii with no a/c and Betsy sleeps wrapped in a fleece blanket like Mother Teresa.  I don't get it because I am sweating just sitting down, but she likes it. Alot of times, she will put the blanket over her face.  I've tried unwrapping her, but it always wakes her up so I just try to re-position the fan so she's getting more air.

  • Dillon did that with his lovey since about 3 months old - yeah - judge away - I win mother of the year award for giving it to him, but he would not sleep without it and if you took it off his head, he would wake up.

Now he buries his head in the pillow.

Takes after his mama - I need something covering my face when I sleep and usually pull the covers over my head.

A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.

  • Hayden puts his pillow pet over his face/head when he sleeps. I usually move it when we go to bed but a few times it has woken him up. He is comfy so i leave it.

  • Yup! Almost every night I go in and check on him and he has it wrapped around  his head or tucked underneath him..Usually around his head.
  • Nolan does this. He takes his whole blanket and wraps it around his face. I hate it. I take it off when I go to bed, DH (who goes to bed later than me) takes it off again when he goes to bed. And without fail, it is over his face again when I get him in the morning.
  • I don't have a toddler but I used to like to sleep that way when I was little. It just made me feel more secure I guess. Plus I need pitch black darkness to sleep.
