Two Under 2

What do you do for "me" time?

Started PPD counseling today and one suggestion was to take time to myself- I agree.  We don't have money for me to just go out somewhere shopping.  Any ideas or suggestions?  I am on maternity leave until 11-10, so suggestions for during the week are welcomed as well.

TIA!

Re: What do you do for "me" time?

  • Meet a friend for coffee

Go for a hike or long walk

Join a cheap gym and go to the gym once a week

Take a book to a coffee shop

Any activity or interest that you had before having kids try to get back into (playing an instrument, photography, knitting, baking, anything!)

It's not easy finding time for "me", especially when you are on a tight budget, but find something that you really enjoy and try to schedule at least one day or night a week to make time for it.

Thank you for the suggestions!  Unfortunately, my friends are all working now- but this would be good for a weekend.  I thought about maybe Barnes and Noble to read/relax with a coffee for a bit.  I definitely need to exercise more, so this is great!

    Thank you so much.

  • I go to Weight Watchers meetings. I know it sounds like lame "me" time but I actually enjoy it.
  • I read and take yoga classes.

  • Hi Twirler, I'm from your area- live in Bucks county but work in KOP.  I also suggest reading at Barnes and Noble, going for a walk, Valley Forge Park is a really nice peaceful place to go.  If you can get some time to yourself on a Sunday, you could go to the Philly Art Museum, (Sunday they just ask a donation to get in).  I'm thinking about starting yoga classes myself.  There's a studio in Newtown that has $5 donation classes, not sure if there's something similar that's closer to you.  Also I know a lot of township parks and rec classes are pretty cheap for stuff like zumba, yoga, etc.  Good Luck, I think the hardest thing is making the time for yourself.

  • Go running.  Hide in the shower.  Pretend you have to take a poo and hide int he bathroom w/ an US Weekly until hubby starts to ask questions.  Repeat.
  • Do things you have to do anyway,  just do them alone, like grocery shopping.

Personally, I get mani/pedis or go out to dinner with friends.

  • Take a long bath (without the baby monitor in the room)...go for a walk (or drive if it gets cold soon)...I love the grocery shopping without the little ones idea, too, that someone else had.  You have to do it anyway, but imagine how much easier it will be without two little ones.

  • Not much me time over here. Does sleep count? lol

I agree with hitting the bookstore or running errands ALONE. That sounds pretty darn nice :)
