Anyone know where to get one? I imagine Walgreens or the grocery store pharmacy don't have them. My OB doesn't do them, and didn't know who has them. I don't have a regular dr, and don't feel like making a million phone calls!
FWIW, when I asked my GP about them her response was "You know that's all bologna. The issue with the preservative has been completely debunked, but the public can't seem to accept it which is the only reason why pharmaceutical companies are still making the preservative-free one."
I had always thought it made a difference too, so I was surprised. But I love and trust my GP. So if worst case you can't find a preservative-free one, maybe that will ease your mind a little. GL.
PS: I used to get the preservative-free one at my old OB, so I am not sure where to recommend you go! Sorry!
I know several people on this board have mentioned getting the preservative free shots at CVS or other chains. I would just call a couple of convenient options to see if they do have it. GL!
We have 6 Walgreens in my town and one of them carried the preservative free shot but they only had 20 available when I called. My doc's office couldn't get their hands on any this year because the big name pharmacies were buying up all of the preservative free shots.
My OBs office ONLY does the preservative free, so I think the PP OB obviously has a strong opinion on it but am not sure that's sound science. People DO have reactions to vaccines. They may not cause autism, but it's really unethical IMO to not at least share with patients that there are reactions, and some of those reactions are related to the preservatives.
The grocery store and Walgreens probably have them. Call before you go and ask if they have single vial vaccines there. (If they don't know what you mean, ask if they administer more than one vaccine out of the vial that the vaccine is stored in.) All single vial vaccines are preservative free.
When I checked at my Target they said they have them, call ahead of time. Although when I was there picking up a med for my husband and the pharmacist showed me the box, it still contains mercury (the reason I didn't want a flu shot in the first place) so I am not sure what "preservative free is". Good luck on your search!
Some drug store chains such as Wallgreens or CVS Minute Clinics carry preservative free flu shots. I called the local Walgreens around the area and only 2 out of the local 15 had it. This year I got it at the CVS mintue clinic on my side of town because they offer the preservative free + latex free microneedle Fluzone at the clinic. Also, look out for local hospitals having their health fair days at this time of the year because they offer to vaccinate your whole family at low to no cost to you.
