CD for newborns

Did you ladies find that when you CD'd that you could use the same diapers for newborns or did you need to get other ones?

I'm looking at cloth diapers and was specifically looking at the bumGenius Flip Cover. I just don't know if I dare buy any. Which CD is your favorite?

We found that the ones we bought didn't fit our newborn until she was 3ms.  Next time we will go with pre folds for the newborn stage.

The one-size diapers don't fit until baby is like 10 lbs. So for a newborn stash I would use fitteds or prefolds. I really like the thirsties duo covers because they snap down real small, yet will be great once unsnapped when LO is bigger. I like the kissaluvs newborn fitteds and the GMD workhorse fitteds with the orange stitching. If you want a pocket diaper for the newborn stage, I really like the kawaii pure and natural. Those also provide room to grow so you aren't just using them for one month!

I have a mix of BG newborn size and newborn fitteds. But I haven't had the baby yet so I am not sure how they will work I was thinking of buying a few workhorse fitteds as well.

We used GM prefolds, snappis and Thirsties duo wraps from 1 week to about 5 1/2 weeks.That was a pretty inexpensive way to go - we had 3 dozen prefolds and 4 covers and it was plenty. That combo was seriously amazing at holding in EBF poo! We never had a leak!

I started using Flips on DD when she was 11 lbs, which was about 2 weeks ago (she was 8 lbs 15 oz when she was born). They work pretty well but she still gets leaks once in a great while. I send Flips to daycare instead of the prefolds because they are a little easier to work with (well... to people who don't normally CD...).

Our one-size diapers did not fit DD or DS as newborns. With both I used newborn prefolds and covers first. My favorites are GMD newborn prefolds (unbleached or organic) and thirsties covers (size xs or duo wraps size 1). That's what we are using now for DS and we have a few nb fitteds that we use too.
