I see lots of Maxwells' in the works, but almost no Maximilians'? It doesn't seem that out there to me, so I'm just wondering what's your opinion on it.

It's just NMS. DH and I threw Maximilian and Maximus out there but neither sounded good to us. I saw Maxson the other day and thought that might be a possibility. DH loves it but it really hasn't grown that much on me. We may even decide to just go with Max. lol. We are so indecisive but at least we know he's a Max of some sort.
I think Maxwell has a cool, sophisticated sound to it. I definitely like it the best of all the Max names. Maximilian reminds me of the snooty rich kid from Richie Rich. My cousin has a son named Maximus. Its just so much name for a little boy. Maybe one day he will grow into it, but all I can picture when I hear the name is a gladiator.
I love Maxwell. I really dislike Maximilian for some reason.
I guess like a pp said it just sounds hoity toity. I see Maxwell I see a great formal name for a kid and an adult and a good nickname 'max' if you like. I see Maximilian and I think of a Roman emperor.
Maxwell is one of our top names. I don't like Maximillian as much because it sounds very pretentious and just sounds kind of weird. I feel like Maxwell is much more simple.
I love Maximilian! But I think it's just a little too fussy for most Americans. I think it would be a cool formal name choice for someone who goes by Max in his everyday life.

This exactly I like Maxwell too though. Not a bug fan of Maximus. I just think "Maximum"
My son's middle name is Maximilian...it doesn't seem too snotty IMO, but we just might be snotty people? His first name is Elias and I personally think the two names flow well together. Maxwell honestly reminds me of coffee, but it's not too bad. If you're not crazy about Maximilian, but still want a little "Max" around, consider Maximus, it's a strong and masculine name.
Elias was born on August 27, 2010, 8 days overdue,
and weighed in at 8 lbs 10 oz and 20.5 in
