Too funny. DH runs his own indoor line after marching season, too! It's his own startup/non-profit, so they're only exhibition so far, no competitions. He keeps hoping to expand to TCGC, but I keep my fingers crossed it doesn't happen. I'm evil!
Wow! I never thought I'd ever meet a drum widow outside of our little drum circuit! MH worked with a small scholastic group for a couple of years and earned a gold medal in the WGI World Championships his first year. He writes all of his own shows (music, not drill) and designs the costumes and floor. As much as I hate it, I love helping him and giving him a clean ear to listen. He's also worked with some independent groups and has been asked to start a new scholastic group and help an independent group come out this year. Too much to do when I'm KU though!
I have to say some of these posts make me really thankful for my husband. He loves college football and watches on Saturday and is a die-hard Ohio State alumni/fan, but he also watches DS while he does it and is home evenings and weekends and is NOT a gamer. That was on my list of deal breakers actually, I've seen far too many relationships ruined by WOW and the like.
Wow! I agree with the football fan part. My family always said that if you die during the season, you're going to be kept in the freezer until after the super bowl! DH used to root for the Cowboys, but my family and I converted him from a closet Steelers fan to a full-blown have-to-be-home-for-the-game Steelers fan. And I understand you avoiding the 6th grade concert. I teach 5th grade band and just started 36 5th grade flute and clarinet players yesterday. 6th grade sounds GOOD to my ears! I'm surprised they're already having a concert. You must start school really early compared to us.
Well, down here they don't start band until 6th grade, so it's still just like your 5th grade, I'm sure. This concert is just the "Look Ma!" concert. Theyplay through just their mouthpieces to be obnoxious, then play a few unison lines from the book. Makes the Christmas concert look more impressive to see how far they've come.
And definitely feel the same way about football, but I'm a die hard Eagles fan. DH has become a Falcons fan in the last 10 years, so we have some ugly weekends. Luckily, we both root VIrginia Tech for college.

I can't really complain much, but I'm a jazz band widow. It used to be Monday & Tuesday nights, now it's just Mondays. On Thursday nights we both play in a community band, so I'm not a widow right now, but will be once baby comes, at least until we can find a regular Thursday night babysitter.

I feel so left out of this post. My DH hates sports(watching or playing) and video games. He doesn't have crazy work hours so we always are able to at least spend the late night(10pm-1am) together since neither of us have morning jobs.
If anything I can lose DH in a book, but he's easily pulled away if I want or need him. Also since he is in school he spends a bit of time with homework for his online classes(like he is now) but I can't really complain about that.

DH is a full time student and college athlete so he is either in class, studying, at practice or traveling for competitions. The season takes a break during the cooler months (which is just November-February for Texas) so I get to see him lots during his winter break from school, but the rest of the time I see him mostly early in the morning before he leaves and he'll usually come home in the evening for two hours or so for dinner before leaving again. When he gets home for the day, I am usually asleep.
When he gets free time from his school commitments he loves to go fishing or rock climbing, two things I can only tolerate in moderation due to the 100+ temperatures we're still having.
I will say though, when we first married he was in the military and that was much worse as he had a frequent deployment job. He spent the first 7 months of our marriage in Iraq, and only got to come home early because he was hurt. At least now, I don't have to constantly stress/worry about his safety!

hence the Spring baby being SUPER planned around football :-)
My first was due on Jan 25th. She was born ON Super Bowl Sunday! I laughed my ass off about that one.
With #2 I went in to be induced the night that the Packers played the Vikings in Green Bay with Brett Favre. I laughed my ass off about that one too. Turns out I didn't start getting induced until the next day since they didn't need to do any cervical ripening, so DH was less than thrilled about watching that game in the hospital room on the crappy TV. But at least he still got to watch the game!
Haha! LOVE this!

I'm a PS3 and computer game widow. My hubby could totally play for hours and hours if I *let* him. He used to play WOW before we were together and he told me when he first got the game, he played for 18 hours straight. Do you know what I told him? Uh, there is no way we would be together. He doesn't have WOW now and he won't be getting it ever, even when the extension packs come out. I feel like an old lady, like I seriously have to remind him to come to bed with me! He has to get up early for work like me, but once again, if I *let* him, he'd play his games till 1 in the morning!
Luckily he loves computer games just as much as the PS3.....otherwise if I had to fight over the TV every night to watch my Real Housewives, Top Chef, or Sister Wives.....we'd have serious issues!!

Race car widow. Racing Saturday night every weekend (sometimes every other) from April through October, then he goes out to work on the car 2-4 nights a week, on average. He is still trying to figure out how he will get his racing in next year!
I am a widow to disc golf and fishing, but mostly just WORK. Lately hubby has been coming home around 8:30 or 9, so I am close to bed or in bed. I miss him!
Same here on the work thing, dh takes a 8 p.m bus home so it's close to 930 before he is home it's a long day when thecalarm goes off at 430.
DH is in the ARMY so he's gone a lot (he's gone now, by the time he gets home he'll have been gone 2 months & 5-ish days).
When he's home and has been home for a while, there's 2 things he tends to get "lost" in. Working on his car (even when there's nothing to do to it, lol) or just watching gun & car video's on youtube.
He'd say he's a book widower though, so we're pretty even. Before I started my classes & externship I'd get so lost in my books it was insane.
