how long did it take to get your social secuity card?

just under 3 wks. when i filled out the birth cert paperwork in the hosp i opted to have them automatically do the ss card...

I takes a while because they have to call the place where your LOs birth certificate is held and verbally verify that the information is real before they can generate a number. ?

I know way too much about this process since we had our LO at home and had to do everything ourselves.

We checked the box as well. They said it wouldn't take longer than 3 weeks but the paper says it can up to 4 months and to not call until after 4 months. The nurse said it only takes that long when they have a baby boom. It took 2 months for us to get ours. I just got it this week. I guess there must have been a small baby boom???
