Allergies

My  6 week old seems to have horrible seasonal allergies.  She's super congested and stuffy.  Tonight, her drainage has been making her gag.  We are both miserable!  Anyone other little ones suffering?  Suggestions to help her?  We use saline nasal drops during the day per doctor's orders.

  • Its probably more likely to be normal newborn congestion. Allergies aren't very common in infants because it typically takes 1 or 2 seasons of exposure for the body to form enough immune response to cause allergy symptoms. For a baby that young, all you can really do is saline drops, humidifier at night and keep her elevated while she's sleeping.

This.  At DS 2 month appt, I actually asked because he is always congested.  He said he is too young for allergies, but that his nasal airways might be small and that it's normal to be congested at this age since they are unable to blow their nose, etc.  I use those nasal saline drops and they help a ton.  GL!
