pacifiers- move up to next size at 6 months??

I remember a bunch of pacifiers having months (0-6, 6-12)... are you going to move up to the next size when your LO is 6 months? Do we really need to? Just curious if any BTDT moms have any advice :) My lo only uses it to calm when tired and fall asleep.

  • I always do, for it fits better in their mouths.  DD uses the MAM pacifiers (like DS did) and those come in 0-3, and 6 +, so I will be buying the next set soon.

  • yes definately follow the age/size recommendations for the pacifiers.  your baby's mouth changes/grows so the pacifier needs to change.
  • Yes, you should move up when it's appropriate. We changed to 6 month MAMs at almost 5 months. They start having a hard time keeping them in their mouths because they are harder to hold when the mouth expands. Also, the smaller plates on infant pacifiers can become a choking hazard to bigger babies who can sometimes get them in their mouths entirely.
