Do you think this is true?

My doctor said that he thinks that my pelvis is shaped in such a way that I may not be able to accommodate a natural labor, which is why my babies are always breech/transverse. Has anyone heard of this?

Re: Do you think this is true?

  • There are different shapes of the pelvis. I think there are 4 if I remember right. Some do make it more likely that baby will be positioned wrong, and I think they are the less common types. My doc also thinks my pelvis is shaped oddly. My first was breech and this one was transverse and now is oblique, but not dropping or engaging at all.

  • I would say it's possible, but probably pretty rare.  Have you been to a chiropractor at all?

I'm sure you've also looked at Spinning Babies, right?  Just in case you haven't:

This was one thing I didn't have to deal with, so I never really read up on it too much.

  • I've done spinning babies and right now we can't afford a chiro as it is not covered by our insurance. I'm just so frustrated because I really want to experience labor and I feel like I may never get to.
  • So frustrating, I'm sorry!  FWIW, I am seeing a chiro now for post-partum back issues and their cash rate is $20-$40 an adjustment since mine isn't covered by insurance either.  GL!

  • In short, some women w/breech or transverse babies have either an odd-shaped pelvis or odd-shaped uterus that makes every baby transverse/breech, or keeps them from engaging. It's rare, as those shapes are rare, but it does happen. It isn't always confirmed unless it happens repetitively.

Well this is my 2nd baby who is also breech. Do you think it runs in families? Both my brother and I were also breech babies.
