Maximus Osborne H., and we'll call him Max.
I have always loved the name Max and my husband is very fond of Greek/Roman history. Plus, I don't like Maxwell, Maximillan, etc...
Osborne is a family last name and I love the way it sounds as a middle name.
It seems like half of the people we tell absolutely love the name and the other half haaaaaate it! Just curious what your opinions are. I know it's different, but I don't want a trendy or super common name...
Re: Love it or hate it?
I don't have strong feelings about it one way or the other, but I wouldn't say it's "different". Max seems to be shooting up in popularity lately. I really like the family name in the MN spot.
It's nice. I'm surprised that there's people that hate it. There's nothing wrong with it.
I don't have strong feelings either way but I picture Russell Crow standing in the Colosseum in Rome and the crowd shouting his name. Maximus! Maximus!
But I do like Osborne. I have a cousin named Maxwell who goes by Max. But he's the only Max I know.
My issues with the name Maximus:
-- What if DS is a little overweight at any point during his childhood? Sounds too much like Maximum.
-- Or, on the other hand, what if he's small for his age?
-- You know the playground brats will also call him Gluteus.
-- It seems a little pompous.
I just want to give you a world as beautiful as you are to me.

SAIF Always Welcome
This
It'd be too strong to say I hate it, but I don't like it. The Roman implications make it sound a little silly to me.
Osborne works well as a middle name; I like it.
I concur. I actually like plain Max the best, but Maximus is pretty awesome.
Great name!
I don't really like it..
I associate Max more as a dog name..
