Does it really matter? Prefold ?

So my mom gave me a bunch of old prefolds.  (I'm talking my baby brothers used them.) I really am thinking we'll do mostly pockets and aios when the babies get big enough because DH will be in charge of most of the diapering.  Prefolds and covers are primarily for the newborn stage.  So... I was looking at getting some GMD prefolds, but wondering if there is really that big of difference and how will my mom's old diapers hold up?  I realize this may just depend on the boys, but if I could save some $$ that should probably be the way to go.  (Or maybe I could just buy some of those BGE seconds that are out right now.  )

I would hold off and see how those hand me down prefolds work... you may find they're just fine. But I'm pretty frugal anyways!

I would try out the old prefolds first to see how they work.  If they fall apart, then get new ones.

I'd get a few GMDs just in case, and have them along with your mom's old ones.
