Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Overnight no pee?

For the second morning in a row, my 3 month old has woken up completely dry. He goes to sleep around 9:30 and this morning woke up at 6:30. (Yesterday it was 8:00) It really concerns me that he's not peeing during the night. He goes like normal during the day though... thoughts?

  • I'm very curious to see what others respond.

I'm sorry I have no advice. Actually this happened to my DD (4.5 months) this Saturday. She went to sleep at 9pm and by 5am no pee....I was so concern. She finally pee at around 6am.

It's happened to my DD a couple of times too but I think as long as they have a good amount of wet diapers during the day, then it's probably just fine. Maybe if it becomes a pattern, you could bring it up to the pedi.

  • I think its because their not drinking at night, im not 100% but ive noticed nights where she wakes up for a bottle there is pee and nights she sleeps through there none or very little, up until shes up for 10ish minutes she pee's. Just a thought.

  • This happened to DS a couple of days before his last pedi appointment (I wouldn't have made a special trip). She said it was perfectly normal as long as he was going enough during the day. If it happens on a regular basis or if he doesn't go very much during the day, it may warrant a call to the pedi, but once or twice... I wouldn't worry.

  • My LO wakes up EVERY morning with a bone-dry diaper and has since she was about 4 weeks old. I was really concerned about it and talked to her pedi and she said as long as she is going normally during the day it is okay. She also doesn't go during naps, but when she wakes up she goes extra, esp first thing in the morning. I think I should start potty training soon... lol
