How old was your baby when you stopped using NB diapers? We use Pampers Swaddlers, he's just over 9lbs and they are getting kinda tight on the tummy and legs but we haven't had any blowouts or anything. Because of the tightness I tried moving him up to size 1 but the pampers, huggies, luvs, and target brand size 1's are HUGE on him ... not just the length but on the sides ... if I left them on everything would come out the sides!!! My poor boy needs to grow a butt to hold them on, LOL.
Re: Diaper Sizes
We are having this problem as well. LO is 9lbs. 3oz. and the newborn diapers are starting to get snug around her legs. Even though she is long and lean.
Every brand of size ones are huge on her, and rub her cord. (It still has not fallen off) However, we are trying to make them work as she is constantly peeing through the newborns.
I stuck my head in here to see what anyone says about moving from size 1 to 2, but now I feel silly.
My baby was born 10lbs 14oz, so he never wore a Newborn diaper, even for a minute. We're just about outgrowing size 1 and he's just over 1 month old. They're not leaking yet or making red marks, but they sure look small on him! I don't have any size 2s yet to compare.
Bummer is that I have hundreds of size 1s that I had stocked up on before the baby came. Then I got more as gifts...people who wanted to buy something useful for my fourth baby. Shoot!

This was our situation exactly! Only difference is that we are using Sensitive Swaddlers, not the regular Swaddlers. Our daughter was about a week old when we made the switch.
Like PP, DS is 5 weeks, 12 lbs, and we just changed to size 2. although a bit big, they give him much more room for pooping, which is needed since he is eating 4-5 oz. every 3 hours!
My LO was only 7lb15oz at birth, but he moved into size two at about 6 weeks (we cloth diaper, but keep a few disposables around for travel). He is 10 weeks old today and already over 15lbs!
