Just found out we are expecting and due in May. Looking for recommendations for doctors and facilities to deliver at. We live in Saint Paul but I am flexible. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I delivered at St. Johns too and had a really good experience there. Dr. Laura France at Generations Womens Health in Shoreview is great. I used the midwives at the practice but she was at my delivery and I saw her during a few appts and really liked her.
Thanks! Made an appointment with a midwife at HealthEast. However the first appointment is not till 12 weeks, is that normal?
I just had my first appointment today with a midwife at Health East. They told me they see their patients first at 10 weeks. I'm somewhere around 10-11 weeks. I was just really anxious to get some confirmation!
It took us 10 yrs to have our little one. Needless, to say we researched everything.
I highly suggest Metro OB/GYN. They have an office located right next door to St. John's Hospital. They have been featured in "top doctor's" many times. I used Dr. Grande due to my high risk status. However, they are all decent. I like the fact that they deliver their own babies. I wanted MY doctor to deliver MY baby rather than the doctor on duty at the hospital. Also, they bill your maternity care as a package regardless of your visits which I liked.
Metro OB/GYN is in the Healtheast system so they contract with St. Joe's, St. John's, United/Children's, and Woodwinds. I personally chose St. John's and had a great experience. St. Joe's has a fairly high rate of "pending" lawsuits in their maternity ward. So I stayed clear of them. United is great as children's hospital is attached. However, keep in mind they are a bigger and busier hospital. So you won't have quite as much one on one time. I have also heard great things about Woodwinds & they have a water birth option is you go that route. Note: Your doc must be certified in waterbirths. (It's easy for them to become certified if they are not currently)
Following that, Central Pediatrics in Saint Paul is fabulous for a Pedi. They are located on Snelling not too far from the fair grounds. Great docs and they have after hour / urgent care on-site too.
I also chose Metro Ob. I had Dr Mies, loved her! I was @ Partners Ob and changed @ 20 weeks to Metro. I didn't like the fact that you don't have your doc deliver you. Whoever was on call delivered your baby. I also switched to St Joes because they have the lowest csection rate in the cities, perhaps in the nation.
What data are you talking about, pending lawsuits? I googled that and couldn't find it anywhere.

Most doctors see you between 8 and 12 weeks for your first appointment. Totally normal!
