Husband Smell Aversion

I can?t stand the smell of my husband. I love him very much but his smell is killing me. I had never noticed anything before I became pregnant. In fact I always thought he smelled wonderful. Now it?s hard for me to sit anywhere close to him. He?s started taking two showers a day and brushing his teeth just before I get home from work. I can?t describe the smell but it is very off putting.

But it?s not just him! I?ve changed my shampoo and conditioner 4 times now. I think I?ve found a combination that will keep me from making myself ill but I?m not sure how long that will last.

I?m starting to notice the smell of coworkers as well?at least the ones that smell bad to me.

I feel really bad about not being able to stand my husband. He?s been so wonderful this whole time and incredibly helpful. I hate that I have to hold my breath to kiss him.

Anyone else? I would hate to be the lone ranger here.

Well, my husband's overall smell isn't bad, but I notice his breath way more.  The other day he had just BRUSHED HIS TEETH but his breath smelled like garlic to me....and I don't know if he even ate garlic!  So, I seriously couldn't kiss him like that.  That episode has been the only one, but it was seriously gross. You aren't the only one! 

On a side note, I read an article that Beyonce can't stand the smell of her husband at this moment. We're in good company!

I can't stand the smell of DF. He wears so much cologne and deodorant. I feel so bad that I can't be near him!

Same thing here. Funny thing is, we use the same body wash. I don't notice it when I shower, but when he comes out of the shower the body wash smells sooo strong!

I'm laughing because I could have posted this exact same thing today.  I feel terrible too, because my husband has been so wonderful through all of this.  I hope this is a symptom that passes quickly.

Uggh.  DH had a few too many drinks at a wedding last night and even after a shower he stinks.  It's like there's alcohol coming out of his pores.  Could be the garlic coming through too.  They had these insanely garlicky mashed potatoes and I warned him that if he ate them he'd be sleeping on the couch!

I have noticed that smells I used to like smell awful now. The smell of beer makes me so nauseous, although I never really liked it in the first place. When DH has one, he's not allowed near me!

So far it's just been smelling his breath that's bugging me, even after brushing the teeth. 

Last night while we were sleeping, for example, I rotated to face my husband and he reached over to hug me close... then he breathed out. I jumped up awake and rolled over away from him. Luckily he didn't noticed and continued to sleep but OMG, he breath was horrible.

You are definately not alone!  As other posters said, it's not his smell per se that is grossing me out but it's his body wash and deodorant.  When i was probably about 6 or so weeks pregnant, we went to the store together and i picked out a new body wash and deodorant for him and i loved the smell until earlier this week.  All of a sudden i couldn't be anywhere near him after his shower and when he hugged me and i could smell the deodorant i wanted to puke!  Needless to say, he now has a very mild smelling body wash or he said he'll use my Dove...and he just got an unscented deodorant! Poor Hubby!!!

Exactly Angiekay! I can't stand the smell of DH's breath, even if he just brushed his teeth.

Try being married to a smoker.  I can't even sit near him on the couch, much less hug him.  God bless him, he's on Chantix and trying to quit, but in the meantime, it's killer.
