That is funny. My BIL asked the other day "What is this school they refer to as California"? I knew it was Berkeley because I went to UCLA and they are both in the PAC 10 (now PAC 12) but I am not sure if it is always that obvious.

Yeah. It's called California because it was the first UC, but no one knows that and assumes you're referring to Cal State.

Iowa State Univ. It's a big agriculture and veterinarian college. Pretty much what most people in Iowa call it, especially Hawkeye fans.
And to show off my geekiness here. A bit of trivia. There's a great book called Moo, written by author Jane Smiley. (I think she won a pultizer or whatever for A Thousand Acres) Smiley is/was an ISU professor of English and Moo is a very thinly veiled humorous parody of campus life at Iowa State.. .
