What are your thoughts on Laura? My DH randomly brought it up last night(we have a 5 month old and are not TTC). Is it dated or classic? I can't decide.
I think of Laura Ingalls Wilder... and she was one of my favorite authors as a kid so it is a good association! I don't think it's dated, it's timeless and cute.
I think it's a classic, though one you don't hear everyday. I had a coworker with a young daughter named Laura, and I thought it sounded very refreshing. Not like the trendy or you-neek names you hear so much nowadays.
I love my name, but I had other Laura's in my grade and we were all Laura W's!!
I also hated being called (Lara), I was a (Lora)!
Growing up I was the only Laura. There were Laurens and Lauries but no other Lauras. But now I guess I'd be a Laura W. because I work with 2 others but we use last names anyway.

Funny! My name is Lauren and I hate being called "Lor-en." I prefer "Lar-en." I'm from PA and my family there calls me "Lar-en." Now I live in VA and everyone calls me "Lor-en." Must be a regional thing!
Opps, I lied. There was another Laura and a Lora that were a little older than me in elementary school. Coincidentally the one that spells it the same as me recently became my new step-sister so my mom and her dad are calling us by our first & middle names. My family called me First-Middle a lot even though there wasn't another around at the time.
But I digress, it's a good name.

I love it, probably because it's my name I've always liked my name and I don't see it as being outdated, but it definitely isn't be used very much anymore. Bring back the name!!
I don't run into too many Laura's. I am the only one I knew of growing up. I get the first and middle name alot (Laura Beth) from my family, it is what it is. FYI, it is hard to pronounce for kids. My patients often cant say my name and I had a hard time with it myself when I was little.
Re: Laura?
It's an amazing name...Mine! haha

Love it! It's my name, too, and I was named after my grandmother who was born in the early 1900s, so I definitely think it's timeless.

I love it and don't think it's dated at all. There's old ladies with that name and girls our age as well.
I think it's classic without the popularity of Lauren. Normal and spelled right but not super common.
This.

Love it, but I'm a little biased. IMO...
Laura = Law-ra
Lora = Lor-a
Lara = Lair-a
Being a Laura always felt more unique than Lauren.
Agreed.
