Hey all! I'm about to do IUI #4 this weekend and I'm so nervous! I only have one good follicles and several small ones. All it takes is one right? This is my last attempt at IUI before moving on to a second opinion from a new RE and/or the donor program. I was told by my RE that I couldn't do IVF because my eggs weren't good. I'm 40 and I really want this to work! I've been ttc for 14 months. Everyone keeps saying it's going to work and is praying for me. I so appreciate it but don't want to let them down. I want this so bad! I have 10 neices and nephews! I so want to be part of the cousin clan. Is anyone out there in the same boat as me?

Re: IUI #4
My DH and I have 13 nieces and nephews between us. We enjoy being the "cool" aunt and uncle, but we would love one of our own.
As for your IUI, yes, it only takes one follie. That's all I had for my IUI. Here's hoping that your next IUI goes well and brings your BFP!
Good luck!
I would love to hear more why the RE says you can't do IVF at 40. That's bs. How does he know your eggs are bad? What do your test results say on ovarian reserve? It really gets to me when RE's say eggs are bad when you have no idea if that is the case with IUI since you can't see the eggs. Just saying..

I have switched REs twice now because of such negative thinking. Seems they are more worried about their success stats than helping women over 40 conceive with their OE. Would definitely consider a second opinion. Not every egg will be a good egg-many will not be good-but it only takes one good one to create an embryo, and then a healthy baby.
Good luck!
FYI-I'll be trying IVF with my own eggs at 40. Please seek a second opinion.

I am ! If this dosent work I already set up another appt. with a different RE. I let you know what happens!
Shari,
I am in pretty much the same boat as you. Just did mu 4th IUI and my doctor told me that IVF was not recommended. I did solicit a second opinion from another doctor (at a bigger & better reputed clinic) and he said IVF may be possible. I am still waiting on results on my IUI (have fingers crossed that it worked) but if not successful, will seek the other doctor that I have spoken to for IVF.
I urge to to seek a second opinion about the IVF before you shut the door to that possibility.
Also, good luck with your IUI #4. Hope #4 brings happy tides to you and me.
