crib bumbers - thoughts?

My LO is a squirmer and keeps getting his feet stuck in the crib (Babi Italia Eastside Classic something-er-other). I know bumpers are banned in some places and everyone advises against them - what do yall think? I want to put mine up to protect his little feetsies.

 LO is sleeping on his belly too, he always rolls over! ... dont call CPS on me....

If you want bumpers, you could buy the breathable kind.

I would skip using regular bumpers all together. They just seem too dangerous. You could put up the breathable bumpers. That way you have some protection against LO getting limbs stuck in the crib slats and minimizing suffocation risks. I'll be interested to see if the other May mamas say they are comfortable with the breathable bumpers.

Thanks, I didnt know about breathable bumpers. I'm going to give those a try. Has anyone had a bad experience with them?

We have a breathable bumper, but haven't put it on the crib yet.  She rolls into the sides of the crib occasionally, but hasn't gotten a limb stuck.

We have breatheable bumpers that we put on tonight because E got his leg stuck during his nap this afternoon and scared the crap out of me. Blood curdling scream, I run up there and sure enough his leg right through up to his thigh and it was a struggle to get it out. I feel much better having them on while he's sleeping tonight.

I used ours with DS and it worked well.  It is already on our crib for DD to keep her pacis and limbs inside (she sleeps next to the side of the crib) and I have no complaints.

we use breathable bumpers.  otherwise, even in a sleep sack, norah gets her legs stuck.  she's a wriggle worm.

We use breathable bumpers. LO kicks at them all the time, so I'm glad they are there. Otherwise she would be getting her legs caught in the slats.

Us, too. I don't have them on the back end currently, because the back is solid wood.

We are making the bassinet to crib transition, so I picked up a set of breathable bumpers.  Problem is, I can't quite get one side to close entirely (they velcro to themselves, once wrapped around a crib slat) so I don't know if I like them yet or if it's a problem for my particular crib (Graco Lauren).

We've been using the breathable kind since he was about two months old because that's when he started squiggling over to the side and getting his feet stuck. In just the last week, he's started actually playing with the bumper -- grabbing the bottom edge and yanking on it and trying to get it (like everything else) into his mouth. Hopefully that won't cause problems.
