In some pain, need some ideas....

I NEVER breastfed a day either of my daughters.  however, all of a sudden yesterday my nipple is very hard and I am in tons of pain.  My youngest is 7 1/2 months old.  I am not pregnant.  Im talking serious pain overnight.  Sorry if TMI but I need some advice :)  i don't feel like running to the ER over this tonight lol

    Do you have any other flu like symptoms? Is your breast showing any redness? Does it feel warm? You could possibly have mastitis. I had it while I was pregnant so it's possible to get it when you aren't BFing. Mastitis is extremely painful and it hit me within a matter of hours. It started with my breast being very sore then I felt like death and thought I was coming down with a horrible flu. Call your advice nurse at your OB office and give her your symptoms.
