Agnes has always been a guilty pleasure name for me. It has the vintage charm that I adore (which is why I love Margot and Ingrid so much), and Aggie is adorable. Am I crazy to like this name? Does anyone else see the appeal?

I'm reminded of the movie Despicable Me; the three little girls are Margot, Edith, and Agnes. None of them are my style, they're just too old lady. I like some old lady names but these ones are just too harsh for me.

Just last weekend I met a little girl, younger than DS, who the parents called "Aggie". It really made me go "blech". She's adorable, but the name just is not. It did not fit her at ALL.

I LOVE Agnes. It is my favorite girl's name. My H has vetoed it. And my best friend is like, "Really? Please fortheloveofgod do not name your child Agnes, ugh." But, I still love it.
I'm gonna be jealous the first time I meet someone with an Agnes. Stupid baby-daddy veto rights.
I do not like Agnes or Ingrid...our daughter's name is Emma, which is classic and vintage too, I never thought I would like it but now I love it. Margot is okay though, how do you pronounce it? Mar-goe?
It has kind of an old-lady sound just by itself, but if it were actually a child's name, I don't think it would sound strange at all. I approve!
This! But I hate the nickname Aggie.

I really like Agnes! I have it on my list: it was my gr g-ma's name, it is a saint's name, it is not popular which I prefer since we have a supper common LN.
Definitely an 85 year old ladies name. I like Ingrid, I know someone my age named Margot, so could probably get behind that too, but definitely not Agnes.

I named my daughter Agnes. It was my grandmother's name and the name really grew on me. Unfortunately, she and her twin were born at 24 weeks and she passed away at 3 days of life. So now the name has an even more special place in my heart. We were going to call her Nessa as a nickname but I like Agnes by itself as well.
I used to hate this name, but it's grown on me. There was a little baby in my breast feeding support group with this name. I prefer the nn Nessie over Aggie.

I actually find it rather pretty.

I love the name Agnes. If it went with our LN, I would definitely have it on our list. I knew a girl named Agnes B----n and it worked really well.
I like Margot a lot and think it's a really pretty name. Ingrid I think is hard to pull off unless you're of Scandinavian descent (or at least fair).
