How did it work out? Did you end up circumcising or not?
My DH and I just got into an argument about this and we don't even have a son! Without getting into details (I am against it and he is for it). I am curious how other couples who disagreed on this topic handled it when their sons were born.
I am not trying to start an debate I just want to know if you and your SO disagree but did it anyway, disagree and did not do it, or if you both ended up agreeing one way or the other.
Re: Did anyone disagree with their SO about circumcision?
We had a daughter so it was a non-issue, but we did get into a big debate about it when I was pregnant. I was actually taking a human sexuality class in which we discussed circumcision at length and started talking to DH about it. He is circumcised and had always assumed any sons would be (in our area, it's uncommon not to circumcise). After discussing it at length and researching both sides, we've decided not to circumcise future children.
Honestly, I've heard very few persuasive arguments for circumcising. There's a lot of misinformation out there about the medical outcomes of circumcising or not circumcising. If you're really uncomfortable with it, research both sides of the argument and present them factually. DH and I weren't able to produce a good reason for circumcising future sons, so we won't be.

I was against it, he was for it (originally).
I asked him why and he didn't really have a good reason. He's an engineer so he started researching expecting to find lots of sources supporting him. The WHO/CDC/etc. don't have a formal stance and the more he looked into it he really couldn't find a scientific/researched reason why and we ended up not circumcising.
I was against it because I saw no real reason to do it. Dh is circ'd and he wanted ds to be too. He agreed that his reasons were purely cosmetic, and he said I had the ultimate choice. We never argued about it, just discussed the pros and cons. We are both happy that we did not circ ds.

We have a DD but we also discussed this topic. My husbands family is straight off the boat from Sicily...in my opinion it is a very European thing to not circumcise, therefore hubby is not! I don't think we would circumcise if we had a boy.
But my bff's baby boy was not circumcised and he kept getting UTIs. So now at 8 months he just had his circumcision surgery this past week....I almost feel like thats worse! Poor baby keeps grabbing at his junk because he's uncomfortable.
ditto.

Thanks for your responses! DH is very opinionated about the topic and at this point is refusing to even consider not circumcising. I hope that if we ever have a son he at least considers all the options and the pros/cons of each. I feel that we should make our decision based on informed choices and our potential future son's best interest not just personal preference.
Who knows, we may never even have a son and this could all be for naught. LOL
