Pregnant after a Loss

itsmegin and others who yoga

When are you planning on stopping the prenatal yoga? I love it and can't see me stopping until I go into labor. But I have to say we did a modified chair pose and my chair is so wide the instructor made me get another mat out so I didn't slip. It is getting harder to move but I could still be pregnant for another 6 weeks and I want to be in the best shape possible for labor.

Prenatal yoga is the best! I was just at yoga this morning and there were a couple of mommas due in the next week and I felt inspired. I hope to do it right up to the end, so unless the doctor tells me to stop, I'm going to keep on going. Although I do have this terrible fear of my water breaking during class - nightmare!! For now though, I love how relaxing and stretched out I feel after a class. It's been the best thing for stress relief and has helped me deal with all the high-risk stuff on my plate. I don't know what I would do without it!!

    Happy yoga :)

Unless I feel awful near the very end, I won't stop until labor. There are constantly girls in my class who have come in past their EDDs and our instructor is very sensitive to that and will have us do stuff to help them get the baby down and out.

Some of the poses we do you'd think would be too hard but I've seen people 41 weeks pregnant, or pregnant with twins doing perfect Ardha Chandrasana (Half Moon) which is pretty impressive balancing for a pregnant women. In my class, for all but the easiest poses, she gives us 2-4 options for each pose so if you're not feeling able to do one you can do something else, or modify it to accommodate your body. She also asks us each at the beginning of each class if we're having any particular issues and will help us make sure not to aggravate and if possible, to help alleviate different aches and pains and problems.

Your instructor should be able to help you with modifications and make sure you're safe at all times no matter how big you get, but if you're finding it too hard, take time off or find a different class where the instructor is more accommodating.

I'm so jealous of all you ladies doing prenatal yoga.  I couldn't find ANY classes around here.  I think I really would have enjoyed it.

This.  The instructor of my prenatal class has said she would love to see us all the way through until 40 (+) weeks if we feel up to it.  I think it really depends on how you're feeling.  And you should definitely ask for modifications if she's not giving you any.

The last time I went was two weeks ago at 37 weeks. I think I could have managed last weekend, but I'm feeling really loose and tender in the hips this week so have deceided to stop. I just do some of the warm up stretches at home.

I think it just depends on how you feel.  If you're up for it they I don't see why not.

I went to my first one last week and there were a couple of women past their due-date who were still doing yoga.
