What kind of pest was it?

So yesterday was such a pretty day and I decided to take some pictures of Hails on the grass in the front yard. So I lay a blanket and start shooting away. After about 10 mins I get up and start packing up my camera and she's just laying there on the blanket still. Next thing I look over and there are like a kagillion (ok not a kagillion but a whole lot) of these little bugs that were jumping on the blanket and on her. I immediately picked her up, undressed her and started brushing away the tiny little pests and had my mom take her inside to check her and dress her in clean clothes.

Now I am wondering, were they fleas? random jumping ants? They sure didn't look like ants. Ugh all I know is that it creeped me out and now I feel itchy all the time and feel like I have fleas on me.

well, what part of the country are you in?  Could be sand fleas, chiggers, etc...
