First month temping, so I was wondering:
what do your temps typically do when you're getting close to ovulating? do they start dropping steadily, and then when you ovulate the temp jumps up real high? Thats what I've gathered from looking at a few other charts, but I'm not totally sure. My chart looks crazy to me, but I'm still learning to understand it too.
Re: Temping question
Some people get a big dip right before O. This has happended to me several times, and is another confirmation that O is on the way. Beyond that, they don't need to drop steadily, but overall they will just be lower before O, and have a definite spike afterwards.

Here is *my* experience - my temps leading up to O tend to be all over the place, especially at th beginning of a cycle, then they lower for a few days. Right before O (1-2 days before) I get a big temp spike, and then a huge drop (at O or the day before). After O my temp rises gradually for 1-2 days and then spikes at around 2-3 DPO. After that, my temps tend to stay high until the end of the LP, but sometimes my temp doesn't drop until after CD 1, and often does not drop below the cover line until after AF leaves.
A temp drop is not a sign of ovulation. It may or may not drop before you ovulate. You should not rely on your temps to predict ovulation. You're temps will only confirm ovulation after you have had a clear thermal shift.
If you are looking to predict ovulation, you should use OPKs and check CM. Keep in mind that EWCM and +OPK does not guarantee you will ovulate.
Your first few cycles charting you will learn your cycle pattern.
