Should I be nervous?

I just got a call from my OB's office.

They said "not to alarm you, but the doctor has reviewed your chart and wants to reschedule your appointment to be with him as opposed to his PA".

So, of course, I am alarmed.

I am thinking that it is just because I have had 2 first trimester losses and it is my 8 week appointment.

There wouldn't be something in my ultrasound that they wouldn't have told me, right?  There was a SMALL SCH, so maybe he wants to talk about that?

There wouldn't be bad news that I wouldn't have heard already, right?

    I have no idea if it's cause for alarm... maybe he just wants to see you since this would be "graduation" appt??

    I think if there was bad news they are legally obligated to tell you, they can withhold that information.  Good luck and keep us posted!

    I know it is easier said than done, but try not to be too nervous.  Hopefully they are just being very careful since you have had losses.

    I'd go with you've had 2 first trimester losses and he's covering his bases. When is your appt? Can you call back and just explain that you're alarmed and get in faster? Just to ease your worries?

    I would imagine it is because of the previous losses, like you said.  If they saw something not right, they wouldn't be having you wait until your regularily scheduled appt.

    My bet is that is that it is any number of the things you mentioned. In my experience, when it is something more serious the nurse or PA calls to give you a heads up.

    I think that if it was something serious and urgent they would have wanted you to reschedule asap.  Don't worry, just be excited that you get to see your doctor and he is wanting to stay involved in the care of your pregnancy!

    Don't stress.  On my first appt, I had the PA tell me that because of my prior loss, I was outside her level of expertise and would only be seeing the dr going forward.  Not that all PAs are the same, but I would say they just want to make sure you are in the best hands.  T&Ps to you.

    ick, what a stressful call to hear. But I am with you---I'm betting it's just because the MD wants to be the one to personally 'graduate' you and give you good news.

    I wouldn't, they didn't move your appt up or give you any indication on the phone (which they would be required to do). I had 2 first tri losses and besides the really long appt where they do all the questions w/ the nurse, I've seen my doc for everything else where they usually shuffle the first couple off to the NP. Plus they probably assume you will be nervous and will be more reassured by your doctor than a PA and your doc is probably more prepared to answer Pgal type questions.

    I would guess it is because after reviewing your chart and seeing your history that it would be better for you to see him so he can discuss everything with you! Try not to worry and I'm sure everything will be just fine! GL at your appt :)

    I feel a ton better now.  I kind of figured it was just because he wants to stay involved, but with the nightmare of the last few months it is hard to believe it is for a good reason, like someone ACTUALLY caring :)

    ugh...why would they think that would NOT alarm you?!?!

    i agree with PP though. hope you are feeling better about it :) 


    ttc (on and off) since we were married in 2005
    unexplained if
    3/2011 injectibles with tic = bfp and twins!! edd december
    lost both heartbeats and emergency d&c at 7 weeks
    9/2011 letrozole,injectibles,and iui = BFP! edd june 2 - baby girl born at 32 weeks and 1 month in NICU...so happy to be healthy and home! 8/2012 whoa! surprise! baby boy due june 2...again!
