TTC after 35

Kinda OT: Weekly weight loss check in?

I'm trying to lose weight, and I know some of you are, too. If I start a weekly weight loss check in, would you guys post? Maybe we can give each other a little support?  If you want to do it, copy and paste from the bold below.

My background: I'm about 50 lbs overwieght (ugh). I've always had big weight fluctuations, but after I got married 2 years ago, I started to really gain. The m/c last year didn't help, I was hormonal and depressed and ate my way through it, to the tune of another 20 lbs.

When I started seeing my RE this spring, she said being overweight could be a factor in my IF. It kills me to think I'm sabotaging myself. And I really want to feel healthier. My long term goal is to be in great shape and smokin' hot by the time I turn 40 (in 2 years.) I'm doing Weight Watchers, which I've had success with in the past.

Weight loss this week: 4 lbs! My weekly goal is 1 or 2 lbs, but I worked out a lot last week.

Total loss: 5 lbs.

Tips/thoughts: I bought a bag of fresh sugar snap peas from Trader Joe's. I've been eating them as snacks. They're crunchy and help me get past my craving for chips in the afternoon.

Me = 38, Husband = 31. TTC since 1/10. M/C at 8 wks 5/10. Started trying again 9/10. All tests normal: AMH/MIS, FSH, HSG, SA. Estradoil high. 6/20/11 - Clomid+Ovidrel+IUI#1=BFN. 7/17/11 - Clomid+IUI#2=BFN. 2 natural cycles = BFN. 10/6/11 - Clomid+Ovidrel+IUI#3=BFN. 10/31/11 - Clomid+Ovidrel+IUI#4 = BFN. 11/26/11 - Follistim+Ovidrel+IUI#5 = BFN. IVF#1 - Menopur+Follistim. 2 ET 5/11/12 = BFN.

  • I would join in for sure! Ideally I would like to lose 20-25 lbs but I would be happy if I could get 10 off before I get a bfp.

    I started acupuncture this week, and as part of the nutrition she recommended I cut out all processed foods, caffeine, (plus white sugar, flour, etc).  Working on that and adding in more fresh fruits and veggies. 

    I am counting calories through My Fitness Pal (try to stick to 1400 per day) with 1 cheat meal per week. I generally make it to the gym at work about 4 times per week.   

    My problem is consistency. I'll do great during the week, the blow it on the weekends.  My goal is to really focus this weekend (no cheat meal) and just make it through under my calorie limits.

  • I'm in too!  I started a to take losing weight seriously last February when the gym at work started a biggest loser contest.  During the course of the contest I lost 26lbs!!  Well, then the summer hit and I gained 9 of those lbs back.  I just started getting back into a more active/strict routine.  I found my biggest success while I was tracking my calories on My Fitness Pal, so I will be getting back to that as well.  I have about 70lbs I still need to lose. 

    Weight loss this week: Didn't weigh in last week so I really don't know

    Total loss: 18lbs

    Tips/thoughts: I have 3 words, water, water and you guessed it water.

    Weight loss this week: Not sure as I've just started (again) on Tuesday.  (We went away for our anniversary weekend last weekend and I said I was going to start when we got back)

    Total loss: 0 lbs.

    Tips/thoughts: I have asked DH not to walk me down the snack aisle in the grocery store anymore.  It seems we can always justify one bag of chips because we haven't eaten out all week.  And, one bag leads to two - especially when they are on sale.

  • Thanks for posting! I think I'll do this each Thursdays, which is when I weigh in. My strategy: weighing in Thurs means you can be bad over the weekend and then make it up Mon - Wed. At least that's the theory!

     Maybe I'll add a question of the week, too.

  • I'm in too!  I am not TTC to the spring.  I am doing WW and have lost about 16 pounds since mid July.  I am trying but hard to get the exercise in now that I am back to work (teacher). 

    Any good recipes to share would be great too!
