what is "dirty" to you? (diapers)

What would constitute a "dirty" diaper, in your opinion? Am I the only one who will change a diaper that's just a little wet?  Now, I don't change P every 5 minutes, but if it's been awhile, if he's fussy, or before he eats, we change him... unless he's totally dry.  H's family lives close by and are here at least once a week. They love to "help" with P. But when they "check his diaper" they will say "oh just pee, not dirty" and then not change him.  I'll have to interject and change him myself.  I explained to them that he only poops once a day usually... idk what they are expecting...?

I won't let this turn into an IL vent, but let's just say I don't feel 100% at ease with them babysitting.  They think i'm some OCD, wanna-be super mom who spoils my kid.  Woops there starts the vent. I'll stop now.

Do you let LO sit in a wet diaper? Do you change on a schedule or once a diaper is "full"?  Are there people out there that only change a poop soiled diaper and consider pee ok?

I change him every couple hours, even if it's just a little pee (and obviously sooner if he poops). If he pees as soon as I put a new diaper on him, I'll change him again. Sometimes if we're out and he's a little wet I wait until we get home but if he was soaked I'd find a place to change him.

I do the exact same thing as you & so does my DH.  There is no reason  my baby should sit in pee any longer than she has to.

I change a pee diaper every few hours (3 or so) unless it feels really soggy before that. I change poop diapers as soon as he is finished.

If I changed his diaper every time he peed, I would go broke buying diapers.

I change him every two hours unless I know he pooped. I don't like to let him sit in pee, but it's hard to tell when he's peed.

This. I change it probably every hour and a half or so.

I do the same thing. I change him every few hours. Unless he's really wet. Needless to say we go through a ton of diapers. I also always change before feedings and, after nap even if he is only a "little wet".

I agree with you too.  I change my DS often probably like once or twice an hour because I don't want him sitting in a wet diaper because it causes diaper rash.  I also have the same problem when I let my MIL watch my son.  I bring a certain amount of diapers for a 9 hour day and only a few diapers are gone.  It makes me mad because I dont like him sitting in a wet diaper. I dont know if she just doesn't realize he is wet or what, but I want him changed every hour.  My mom is the main caregiver since I work full-time and she is excellent with him and make sure he doesn't sit in a wet diaper for too long.

I change her any time I think she might be wet. I am always worried she will get irritated down below.

I change any time she is wet.  We use cloth diapers though so I am not worried about cost.
