Blankets in crib?

Does anyone plan on covering LO with a blanket with winter coming? I have been putting DD in footy jammies but she woke up with very cold hands this morning so Im tempted to start covering her with a blanket. Is it still too soon? We keep our house at 71 degreess so it's certainly not cold.

Re: Blankets in crib?

  • We covered DD with a blanket from birth because she slept better with one. We kept it pretty low on her body and it was crocheted. Now she sleeps with a light quilt.
i wish i could be joking but my dad is the music teacher at a church so he owuld be mad. we had sex, all the time how bad i know but we dont want to wait and he said GREAT OH KAY! and I was really feeling the wets? down there- too embarsed to say- but he acted like man.

  • I've been giving DS a blanket for a few months now. He won't sleep without one; laying it over him has actually become part of the bed/nap time routine. He just rolls around with it and hasn't had any trouble.

The Nest/Bump sucks and won't let me change my location. I'm in Arkansas, not Florida.
  • I would if he would keep it on.  However, I'm pretty sure he runs laps in his crib before finally falling asleep so it would never stay on.

We will continue to just layer his clothes.

  • After my boys fell asleep I would cover them up and tuck them in below their arms.

  • It has been gettig cold here at night so we started to put a blanket on our LO and footy jammies. We havent had a problem and I am not too worried because I dont go to bed until about 1 in the morning because of school and so I check on him and the blanket is usually where I put it hours before. You could always try it and just check in and see how your LO is doing and go from there...

  • I don't think it's too early. DS sleeps with a blanket which he usually bunches up under his body as extra cushion/pillow. The no blanket rule really applies to babies that cannot efficiently use their neck or move their heads to breathe accordingly during the night. That's my understanding of it.

This. We've let LO use a blanket at night and at naps for a few months now.

  • My DD occasionally gets a blanket on her at naptime, but not at night.  She moves around so much, so it doesn't stay on.  During naps, it usually gets bunched up in one corner of her crib, or it gets tossed out with her socks.   Sometimes she, too, wakes up with cold hands, but I don't know how to keep them warm.

  • I read the recommended age is 12 months but I just started using one, I tuck it in at the bottom of the bed so it would make it harder for him to pull over his face.

  • He has two blankets in his crib, a lovie, and big bird.  His room is either the coldest room in the house or the warmest.  Gah.

  • We cover DS with one. We have been doing it for about a month now. He doesn't sleep well unless he is covered.
  • We use a crocheted blanket but it never stays on him because he moves so much.
