I LOVE the name Dexter. Aaron not so much (but that's  because it's my bil's name and he's a jerk). It's a nice combo, though. DH won't let me use Dexter because he is reminded of Poindexter. (Sorry if this ruins the name for you, but it's important to weigh all sides of a name.)

Dexter Aaron flows well.

heh... cereal killer... that's funny. There was someone in high school who was a cereal killer for Halloween. She wore a box of cereal on a string around her neck with a few forks sticking out of it. Like she stabbed the cereal with the forks. It was a nifty idea to me at the time. You just reminded me of it.

It's actually our top name right now.  I don't know how I feel about Aaron as middle name though.  It doesn't quite flow right.

And for the record, MH and I love the show and we still love the name.  The show will be over in a few years and people will not even remember it.  My mom didn't use a middle name for my sister because someone from All My Children named their daughter that right before my sister was born (back in 1985)...do you think anyone would remember that now? No.  They probably wouldn't have then either.  I say use it!!  Just because the guy in the show is a serial killer does not mean your son will be...it's a fictional show!!  Plus, he is a good serial killer...he kills the bad people

I actually posted just the other day about Dexter and got a lot more positive responses than you seem to be getting.

I really like Dexter.  Aaron is ok.  (I don't really think that people born in 2011/2012 will have any real familiarity with the serial killer character).

I think the name flows really well and it is a good name. Not really cute though, but then again I do not think a boys name should be cute.

I love Aaron... but am biased as it's my son's name.  I'm not that enamored of Dexter.  But it's not weird or anything. The name flows. So if you love it, go for it.

Or switch around to Aaron Dexter?

I love Dexter! It's in our top 3 or 4. The nn of Dex is so cute! I don't think Aaron flows well with it, however.

Michael C Hall in general is just my favorite! Six Feet Under is, IMO, the greatest show of all time and I just can't believe he is so believable as both David Fisher and Dexter Morgan!
