Babies: 6 - 9 Months

My first real mom fail...

Ellie was climbing in my closet this morning while I picked out something to wear.  She fell and cracked her head on the molding.

It didn't gush blood or anything and we were able to steri strip it.  I honestly cried worse than she did.  I'm considering buying that spray foam insulation stuff and covering all my molding... too much?

  • You did not fail. Babies fall and bump their heads all the time and I'm sure this will be the first of many times. {{HUGS}}
  • Oh no!  Poor babe!  They are resilient little buggers so she's probably over it but I probably would have cried my eyes out, too.

    I don't think it's a mom fail...they are bound to fall and get hurt sooner or later.  Now you just have more reason to snuggle with her today.

  • Poor baby!  :(  Alayna took a nose dive off of the couch the other night.  She landed right on her face, and I looked just in time to see her little head hit the ground. I also cry more than she did.  Her nose is still a little red.  I dread the first goose egg/ cracking open of head,  I will probably be a mess about it!

    I am glad she is okay.  That is some scary stuff!

    I know right!   The goose egg has already gone down quite a bit.  I had to keep her awake for awhile just in case which was miserable because she was ready for a nap before she fell.

  • Poor baby.  These things happen to everyone - don't be too hard on yourself.

  • Oh my goodness Rim, that must've made your heart sink. Poor baby. I hope you're okay, too. I am dreading the first time Liam takes a spill like that, we all know it will happen at some point!
  • Thanks guys.  I just dropped her off at her grandma's for the day because she is fine.  She woke up from her little cat nap all smiles and clapping and I have client meetings today that I really couldn't miss.  Every time I think about it though I start to tear up and I can't wait to get back to her.

  • That's not a mom fail; it's a baby fail. A was crawling around on my parent's hardwood floors the other night and kind of face planted. I think he was tired because he's generally an expert crawler. Anyway, when he finished his screaming fest, I realized that there was blood all over my shoulder from his bloody nose. He was fine but I felt terrible all night.

    A mom fail would be locking your kid and your keys in your car...

  • Oh poor Little One!  I hope you all are doing better now.  Toddlers fall and it is the first of many bumps and bruises, but I understand the feeling.  Hugs.
  • Oh my goodness! She's one tough cookie!!

  • Poor Rim and poor baby! Ethan took a header yesterday into the lower shelf of a table in the living room. He's just pulling up and fell. Well, he hasn't really figured out yet to fall on his butt. Ouchies.

  • Babies fall. There is nothing you can do to prevent her from ever getting hurt. So don't feel bad. As a fellow mom though, I would have cried and beat myself up too.

  • Hugs to you both!  We had an incident last week - DH accidentally shut DD's finger in the baby gate.  Luckily, it was more of a pinch because there was enough of a gap at the bottom where her finger was.  DD cried briefly, I think more out of fright, but I was a bawling mess.  After a minute, DD stopped crying and looked at me like, "what's up, mommy?"  I'm sure we'll have many more bumps, squished fingers, etc. in the future.  Things happen so fast!
