Has anyone tried alvababy or sunbaby?

I've seen some ridiculously stellar reviews for these with some "these suck more than anything I've ever tried" reviews.

The prices are oh so hard to beat but I'm just curious about them.

Re: Has anyone tried alvababy or sunbaby?

  • I've heard mixed reviews about both.  I've got my first Sunbaby on the way, so I haven't tried it yet.  I think it really depends on who you ask.  Some love them, some hate them.  They're cheap enough to try though!

  • We have 12 Sunbaby 4.0s (I think that is all they sell anyways now(they used to have a 3.0)

They are a smaller fit than say a bG 4.0 or a Kawaii Original Crossover, but they fit my 2 year old just fine and she is only on the middle snap.

Also I let my friend borrow a few to test out on her chubby baby who is 9 months old and she said they work great for her too, my DD is skinny so they fit well on different shaped babies pretty well.

I only have 1 complaint, but it really doesn't have much to do wit the actual diapers.  It is with the insert.  They are kind of skinny, so what we did was we bought a pack of Kawaii microfiber inserts (10 for $15, cheapest that I could find (we actually bought two packs so I have extras too) and we double stuffed them.

They are holding up just as well as my bumGenius 4.0s and FLIPS and also my Kawaii's.   For the price they are great quality.

  • i have 12 of them (sunbaby)...very trim and a great day-time diaper. I use them with 1 insert. I have a chubby long 8.5 month old and they fit her very well. They are my daytime go-to diaper. Never had any leaks, etc. I've been using them for 4-5 months now and they are holding up just as well as my Kawaiis.
  • I got a dozen of them and have only been using them for a month, but they seem to be working just fine so far.  DD is almost 8 months & is only about 14.5 pounds, and they fit great on her skinny little self.  The hip snaps work good to get a close fit around her skinny legs.  I've used them at night with a hemp insert added with the MF one and they worked fine, but she's only sleeping 4-5 hours at a time so I'm not sure how great they'd be for a 12 hour sleeper.   They were totally worth the $5 each, DH loved the price to get him on board with CD-ing.

They do take a long time to ship since they're coming from China, so keep that in mind.  It took me about 3 weeks to get mine.

  • I have an "icute" one (also from China) and when they say don't wash in over 86 degree water, they mean it!  It delaminated after about 6 washes in hot.  I just wasn't comfortable washing in only warm water.  Not saying the other brands will do that too, but that might be an issue.
