Babies: 6 - 9 Months

This little piggy...

So apparently my son eats an abnormally large amount of food. At our last doctor's appointment, we were told that he is in the 90th percentile for both height and weight. This was when he was six months old. The Dr. asked how he was doing with solid food, and I told him that my son was eating four 4 oz. jars daily, as well as nursing. His jaw nearly hit the floor!

Now my son is nearly eight months. He is bigger than my friend's son, who just turned one. He still eats the four jars, but he also eats a lot of snacks as well as nursing. We'll probably move up to five jars worth, but I'm going to start cooking the food because the expense is so immense. Does anyone else have a kid that eats this much at this age??? Or do I have an immense kid?

Re: This little piggy...

  • I make most of her food but on an average day she'll eat...

3-4 oz of fruit mixed with several tablespoons of oatmeal

    3-4 oz of veggies

4-6 oz of fruit and/or veggies and 2-3 oz of yogurt

She also nurses about 5 times a day

    She's 7 months old.

So yeah, I guess she's eating close to what your son is eating.  She's a big girl (about 20 lbs) - but our doc said she's doing great and keep up what we are doing. Big Smile
