Someone explain this to me? (fb rant)

Since they changed a bunch of stuff, I have no idea what I'm doing on fb. (how to do stuff, not why, though I'm now questioning that).

 

If your friends' friends can see comments & tags on your post, photos, etc., WTF are privacy settings for? Also, what the frig is subscribe? I just want to see my friends status updates as they post them, in chronological order. That's it. Why is that impossible? I feel like I need a class to figure this out. And Top Stories was a stupid idea.

I completely agree with this. 

The change has drastically decreased my time spent on the website. I uploaded pictures yesterday and that was about it.

I also don't like that people can comment on my tagged pictures. I tagged SIL in pictures of her baby, all of her friends are blowing up my FB (and in turn, my blackberry) commenting on the pictures.

I'm so over fb. It took me forever to even join. I think the only reason I even stay is so I know when people post pic of me.

It really isn't any different then it was.  If you are set to friends only then only friends can see the stuff in the ticker bar. The reason you can see things is because your friends(and their friends) don't have it set that way.

I'm not too thrilled with the ticker. I managed to get rid of a lot of it. App privacy settings to block what I am doing in other people's tickers. Unsubscribing from each of my friends likes and comments, cause I really don't care what they are saying to people I don't know.

 

The new timeline that is rolling out Oct 3rd is actually pretty cool. I've been playing with mine just a little bit and I like being able to see the progression through time. And it's a much cleaner format.

I see a lot of people on my facebook talking about the ticker, but I still don't even have one. My sister said it is annoying.

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I think the new "subscribe" feature is awesome.  I have so many friends that post videos (from youtube that I don't care about) or that join random groups all day long.  I didn't want to "hide" them in case they actually changed their status or something important happened in their lives.  Anyway, now I am subscribed only to their status updates and nothing else.  A.M.E.N.!!!  I'm interested in this timeline thing.  It seems awesome imo, but I'm not sure when or how it will be used.  Time will tell.
