Im a Newbie

Hi everyone, just wanted to introduce myself.  I am 36 and have 2 children(8 and 13yrs) from a previous marriage, my fiance(33) and I have been trying..not preventing for a year this month and nothing.  At this point I am just not sure, actually neither of us are truely sure if we want to go further with trying or not. 

I have always wanted 3 children, and I would love to have a baby with him and the kids are completely on board, but sometimes we just look at how great our lives are with the kids being a bit older and it makes us question it.  Then there are times we really want to and dont really have the luxery of saying, lets just wait a few years and see how we feel because I am older.  All that being said, since it was officially our 1 year of trying this month I was really hoping for a positive but AF came today

Neither of us have been tested in anyway as of yet, I was pregnant with my kids on my first cycle trying so having difficulty is really new to me.  My Dr told me that DF really needs to have his sperm count checked and he hasnt, I think he is really afraid to hear that he has a problem or something....

Sorry to hear you've been trying for a while. I responded to you in the post below, but I'll say it here as well. You can get the sperm collection cup from the doc, do it at home, and bring it in. It just has to be there within 30 minutes. It's really easy. I've always done it for DH since I'd prefer him to not have to go to the collection room if not necessary.

Welcome-you can always make final decisions about what you do and don't want to do at a later time.  Would suggest that you get testing underway, as things will only get more difficult as time passes.  Just take it one step at a time, we put a stop date on our TTC efforts.  In many ways, this makes it easier as I won't be dealing with all this too much longer.  But, you've got to decide what works for you.  I thought I would never consider IVF, but I've found that our decisions change and we go through the process of dealing with IF.  I also have an older child-18, almost 19.  DH has no children of his own.  Good luck to you!

Welcome to the board.  The SA was not really that big of a deal for DH.  He has had a few friends that were in the same situation as we are in.  He had lunch to talk with one of his friends about it and it was very helpful for him.
