Babies: 6 - 9 Months

what sizes are you buying?

i am going to be shopping for DS for fall/winter. his 6 month stuff make him look like he is wearing capris LOL

at his 6 month appointment he was 27 1/2 inches long so at almost 8 months we are probably at 8 1/2 inches. anyways we mainly wear carters but their 9 months say they go up to 28 1/2 inches but there 12 months look so big

what are you doing?  should i just buy 12 months so it lasts longer and deal with the biggness?

Re: what sizes are you buying?

  • E is wearing 6-9 but we're having the same problem. A lot of her little pants look like high waters unless we pull them so far down that she risks plumber crack. The next size up are too big around the waist though.

  • DS2 is only just about 26 inches now and only weighs about 16lbs..I bought a bunch of 9 month stuff and 6 to 9 month stuff all the pants are way too big on him. He has always been a little behind with clothing sizes so I don't plan on buying any 12 month stuff at this point. DS1 was always bigger for his age until he hit about a year old then he evened out so at 9 months he was wearing 12months and so on. I do have a bunch of 12 month stuff from DS1 so hopefully if DS2 does eventually go through a growth spurt I have things for him already.

  • DS is almost 23 lbs and 30 inches long, and he is comfortably in 12 month clothing now. He's too tall for some of his sleepers, so we've thrown a couple 18 month ones into the mix, too.

  • As of last week, Louie is 27in and 21lbs. She still fits in most of her 9 month stuff, but we started buying only 12 months a few weeks ago. I thought the clothes would swim on her, but aside from having to roll her jeans, everything fit pretty well. And I would rather it be a little big now, than way too small when it gets cold.

  • DS is just over 6 months, weighs 20 lbs and is 29.5 inches tall.

We gave up on onesies. By the time I find one that fits his length, the girth is way too big.

We buy him separates now (they seem to run bigger than onesies). He wears 6-9 month pants and shirts from Carters, Old Navy, Children's Place and Crazy 8s.

ETA: I forgot pjs. We have to get 12 month sleepers for him. The 6-9 month sizes are too short.

  • DS is a little under 18 lbs and 28 inches and is in all 12 month stuff now. Some is a little big but the 9 month stuff was getting either tight or short on him (plus a lot was summer-y).

  • I have a peanut and I went to a large consignment sale and bought a lot of 9 and 12 month winter clothes. depending on the outfit the bigness won't be too much of a hassle. I joke that DD needs baby suspenders!

  • Hannah is about 16 pounds and 26 inches. She currently wears some 3-6 and mostly 6-9. I bought most of her winters clothes in 12m (my mom insisted that babies skip 6-9). I may have made a mistake as she isn't anywhere close to being able to wear them. So, I have been buying a couple of winter 6-9 outfits lately.

  • DD is 6.5m and was 28.5 inches and 19.5 lbs a week ago. I'm buying 12-18 in Old Navy and Gap for winter, and 12 in Carter's. She's fully filling out Carter's 9m stuff now and also fills out Gap and ON 6-12 pretty well...I was amazed a couple days ago when I put a Gap 6-12 l/s onesie on her and the sleeves were short.

I feel like I waste so many clothes because I wait too long to put her in them thinking they'll be too big. Errrg!

  • K was 27.5 inches and 18#,2 at her 7 months appt last monday. I've just bought a bunch of stuff from a consignment shop in 9-12,12 & even  couple 18's that looked small. They're a little big, but not by much at all.
