Fall weather & Blanket question

We live in a "desert-like" climate so when I put DS down to sleep the house is still pretty warm but in the morning the house is cooling off too much and he is cold. In the summer time I was dressing him in cotton short sleeve pjs with no socks (no blankets) Right now I have put on his chamois crib sheet and went to cotton long sleeve pjs but he woke up this morning cold. I think he would be too hot initially in fleece pjs since it is still in the 70/80's when its time for bed.

DD was almost a year when it started getting cold so I felt comfortable putting a blanket in her crib. I am not too sure if this is the "safe age" to put in a blanket even though he is scooting, pulling to stand, and beginning to cruise around the furniture/walk with my hands he is still almost 7 months old.

Those of you who live in a similar environment what are you dressing LO in?

note: I could heat the house but his room is the largest and always the coldest/hottest in the house. We put on the heat and our room and DD's room becomes boiling hot while his room is moderate.

Re: Fall weather & Blanket question

  • We've been using a knitted blanket for a couple weeks now. It's a loose knit so she can still breathe if it's over her face but so far hasn't pulled it up without pushing it back down.

  • Would your LO tolerate a Sleep Sack?  We use those on DD now that it is getting colder and her room seems to get the coldest.  We have a cotton one and a fleece one for the winter.

  • I live in Texas, so right now it is still pretty warm. I don't put a blanket on her yet. Her Grandmother is making a loose knit blanket for her for the winter. I don't feel comfortable letting her go to sleep with a regular blanket. Right now she still wears a short sleeved onesie and nothing else. I always get up in the middle of the night to check on her. So if she feels cold, I will turn her a/c unit up. She seems to do just fine.

  • I have been bad and using a blanket for the last month or so. Normally I find her curled up in the corner and the blanket is no where near her if she is still asleep in the mornings. I tried the sleep sack the other week but had trouble getting to her stomach so she kept waking up. May try it again this weekend to get he used to it.

Same here...and DD's room is the hottest in summer/coldest in winter.
