My husband and I own a produce market that is open seven days a week. We sell everything from fresh produce to seafood there and it also has a deli located inside that is open six days a week. Crawfish season keeps us busy and Easter weekend is the busiest...oh yeah, I'm due APRIL 9th (1 day AFTER Easter) and knowing that twins usually come early we are already a little freaked out.
We also have s sno-ball stand in front of our produce market that is closed for the fall/winter but will re-open in March for spring/summer season...bad thing I'm craving sno-balls now even though I ate maybe 2 all season this past year.
Next we own a firework stand that is open for the 4th of July and New Years firework sales...also keeps my husband and his brother very busy.
NOW...my husband has decided to fulfill his lifelong dream of opening an Italian restaurant. I'm so happy for him and it just kind of fell into his lap and it's a deal he cannot refuse. It's a beautiful place and the location is great and it's almost directly across the street from our produce market but OMG!!! It's alot for a woman pregnant with twins to handle at once!!!
Re: We must be crazy!!!
Wow!!! Sounds busy but good for you & good luck with everything:)

My blog * We made the national news!
its about that time. ALL the yummy apples will be in shortly. as soon as they come in i'll post that they are here!!!
Have you tried pink lady apples? They are so good.
OH AND I NEED AN NAME FOR THE RESTAURANT. Last name is Marino so it's going to be Marino's ______________.
Any ideas
We had a produce stand over here but it closed Honeycrisps are $2.99/lb ON SALE at Fresh Market. Ridiculous.
$2.99/lb...wow!!! That is expensive. I could probably ship them to you for cheeper when they come in. ; )
We have someone who goes to BC and brings them back to us for $33.50 a 40lb box. Mmmm honeycrisp!
"Just keep swimming, just keep swimming..."
I like Marino Italiano, too.
Is it true that the "fresh" apples you get in the produce section of a grocery store are actually up to 14 MONTHS old?!?! My hubby told me this and I was so sad because I always thought they were fresh picked from the tree!
What kind of food/service? That will dictate your name.
You could do Marino's Trattoria....but it would have to be a trattoria. Or you could do Osteria, but it would have to be an Osteria, etc....
Around here though, EVERY italian restaurant is the last name of the family...so it doesn't really stand out. If I was to open one, I wouldn't use a last name (I'm not Italian, but DH is half), but something else to stand out. But I don't know what it's like around you.
Yes, apples are only picked in the fall like once a year then they are put in a room that basically takes all moisture out of them to keep appleas "fresh" for the entire year, which is why they seem to get grainy by summer. I don't eat apples after witner is over. They taste different. Now, almost every fruit is grown over seas as well (I'm not sure if apples are included, but none of them ever taste the same)
We have Ruffino's and Gino's and of course Olive Garden (which I don't even think count's). We also have The Vineyard. That's about it. No "family friendly" italian restaurant around us.
Our last name is Marino and our Produce marekt is Marino's so the name is already kind of known around town so we want to keep the "Marino's" name but also want to make it original. I was thinking maybe:
Marino's Pasta Bowl
Marino's Famiglia Ristorante Italiano (italian family restaurant)
