Has anyone put the bumpers back on the crib?

DD likes to cram herself into the corner of the crib and bops her head a lot.  It still makes me nervous though, WDYD?  TIA.

I've always had bumpers on his cradle then crib. He doesn't move around very much, though so I haven't had any issues.

I've always had them as well. She hits her head a lot and I couldn't imagine her sleeping very well doing that without them.

I have bumpers on 3 sides of the crib...it tends to get stuffy in his room.

With DD1 I put the bumpers back on around 6-8 months.  She was hitting her head really hard when she rolled around at night and, although I know it doesn't do any real harm, I decided it was better to put them on.  Now that I think about it, it was actually the pedi that suggested I put them back on.

With DD2 I left her bumpers on from the very beginning.

We put them back in at 6 months. He was plenty mobile at that point. He sleeps smashed against them and I have no problems or worries with it.

Just make sure that you lower your crib mattress if you choose to put them back in.

I just put them in for the first time a few days ago.  I would go check on DD and her feet would be caught in the rungs.  It made me nervous because her feet and ankles are paralyzed due to Spina Bifida.  I was worried she might hurt herself if she tried to move her legs and didn't realise her feet were caught.  For some readon she hardly moves at all now with them in!

To be honest we never took them off. There have been several times where her feet would have been through the slats if they hadn't been there, but she has never had her face near them. For us they work, but whether you are comfortable with them or not is completely up to you

This.  I thought about taking them off but I'd rather have the top of her head jammed up against something soft than the railing

we use breathable bumpers.  DS smashes his face against the side and crams himself up so small with his butt in the air.  I'd never sleep if I had something solid and puffy smashing against his face all night!  I'm way too paranoid.

I've always had bumpers in his crib. He moves around so much in his sleep, I worry much more about him whacking his head than getting stuck in one spot & suffocating.

I just put them on about a week ago. DS started turning 45 degrees in his crib some nights and during naps, so up they went. We've had no problems thus far. And he can roll around well enough that I don't worry about him.

A friend of mine gave us breathable bumpers to use until she has her next LO, we've been using those for a month or two.  However, I am starting to wonder as DS gets more mobile if it would be better to put the regular bumpers back in.  We still use our angel care, so if something were to happen, that would start beeping, I don't know, I'm just paranoid still.  It should be okay with the angel care on, right?

We use the breathable. He's already tried to climb up on those which fortunately collapse so he can't get any leverage.

yeah we laughed.  She was sound asleep.  She's done it before at 3:00 AM though, and woken herself (and us) up.  One time I felt bad because we were letting her CIO then when I got my lazy azz up after the crying went on for several minutes, I saw she was stuck.  I felt like a jerk.

Yup.  Since she rolls all over the place, she was kicking the bars or getting her limbs stuck in between them.  She is very strong and I'm no longer worried about SIDS, so they're back in the crib.

Yup this has been me too! I remember sitting in the other room thinking how much my kid was a drama queen and then felt like crud when I checked on her later and saw she was through the slats. She never really does that anymore now though. I think she's just gotten big enough to figure out how to get herself back through.

Oh to OP Joanna is 9 1/2 months and I still have her out although I have been thinking about putting them back in. I was going to ask her pedi about it when I take her for her shots on Friday.

This.  I took the regular bumpers off DD's crib when she was about 3 months old, then got the breathable bumpers after she got her foot wedged in between the slats a couple of times.  Aside from being breathable, they're also supposed to "crumple" if a baby tries to climb them, thus preventing baby from doing a swan dive out of the crib...

Good quality regular bumpers will do this too.
