I want ours gone!
I did some research and think I can handle that part.
But what do I do after? Just paint the material that's up there? I'm assuming drywall. Or do I have to put some kind of putty or something up there.
I know I'll have to putty do any creases/cracks where the boards come together.
TIA!
Re: Home Improvement Question re:Ceiling Textures
Drywall mud is what I was thinking of. I've used it a good bit before doing some non ceiling work. I just couldn't think of the correct terminology.
I do plan on priming/painting anyway, but I just wanted to make sure I didn't have to mud the whole ceiling. That's the main part I wasn't too sure about.
Thank you! I think this is the answer I was looking for.
It depends what time type of texture you have...if it's like popcorn you can get a scraper and scrap it off. Then use a hand sander to smoothe it if needs be.
Textured ceilings are done smoothe before you texture them....so you shouldn't have to mud anything if it was done right to begin with.
If your texture ceiling is more of a pull down or swirly designes it might be easier to get a putty knife and get as much off as you can and then hand sand it. I would use a power hand sander. Much easier!
I took all the texture off our ceilings when I bought my house. We had to remud and sand everywhere that had mud already before it was ready for priming and painting.
