Things To Do in the Winter for Toddlers

So my DS will be 14 months soon.  Just trying to find some activities to do with him during the morning hours (sometimes it feels like forever before his nap).  I wouldn't mind signing up for some community ed classes, but I don't have the same days off every week so I wouldn't be able to make every class.  Any ideas?  I live in the Lakeville/Apple Valley area.  Oh, and I've thought about story time at the library, but I just don't know if he would sit still.  We usually only get about 3 pages of a book read at a time because he can't sit for that long.

  • I really suggest story time. Ours has 20 minutes of reading, sometimes LO will sit other times she runs around, but it's the same for all the kids. And then it's 5-10 minutes or songs followed by play time.

The zoo is also a good one.

I would suggest signing up for Macaroni Kid, they have great suggestions and have a Lakeville/Apple Valley one.

  • We just went to Storytime today at the Ridgedale library. My daughter is 21 months and had a great time!  Thanks for the recommendation for the Macaroni Kid website, this will be very useful!
  • There's a new place in the Burnsville Mall where the pet store used to be. I believe it's called Reach?? And they have drop in preschool type activities all week long. In the mornings they do an open gym time also that I have heard is free.
  • I also really encourage your library story time.. its not all reading..ours, in blaine, is more like a sing a long.
