Trying to Get Pregnant

Day 19...no ovulation yet!

Good morning all!  Im just here to vent a little this am..... its day 19 of my cycle and Ive been using the CVS brand of the "answer" ovulation predictor and I still have yet to have a "positive" ovulation test!!!! is any one out there where this has happened to them?  could I be just one of those women that ovulate late in their cycle?  Im going on month 3 from being off the birth control (was taking nuvaring)  and my cycles have been 35, 30 days and now this current cycle..... frustrated!!! thanks for your input ladies!

  • CD19 is not that late at all.  Some women ovulate much later.  Your body is probably still getting back to normal.  No need to worry!

  • I'm not temping or using OPKs this cycle (will do the latter if there is a next cycle), but judging by my CM I don't think I O'd until sometime last week which would have been like CD 26 - CD 30.....so its possible its just late.  (Assuming my CD 1 was 8/24,had a weird period coming off bcp, could have been CD 19 - CD 23 if CD 1 was 8/31).  My motto is keep trying as long as no AF!

  • First of all, you are only 3 cycles out from being on birth control. It takes time to regulate, even if your first few cycles are regular.

Also, don't rely on OPK's alone. You need to be temping as well. You could have missed your surge if it's a short one.

  • Just hang in there (I know easier said then done). Day 19 is considered an early ovulation day for me! Are you checking your CM or temps because that also helps predict when ovulation is coming?

  • CD 19? I wish. FF says I O'd on CD 85. Don't worry, you probably won't have as long a cycle as someone like me, but keep at it, and if you're not, try temping, that way when you get a positive, you can confirm your O with the temp rise. It is possible to get a + OPK and not O.

  • I went off of BCP in June and am now on cd 30 with no O yet. I didnt O last cycle until cd 38.

cd 19 and no O isnt that unusual for just coming off of bcp.

He's my fairytale, a dream when I'm not sleeping.

  • For arguments sake, with your 35 day cycle you probably Oed on CD 21, so you might be getting close, but be a later Oer.  I know its frustrating, I Oed on CD 22 last cycle and had finally given up the ED BD schedule and switched to EOD!  I highly recommend charting.
  • Day 19 is not really too late, especially if your cycle is still regulating after BC, so I would not worry about that.

Just because you haven't gotten a positive OPK also does not mean that you did not ovulate.  I don't ever get + OPKs, even when my RE confirms ovulation via blood work and ultrasound.

  • Day 19 isn't really late. For me, it would be shockingly early. And as PP said, if you're using OPKs alone, it's possible to miss your surge.

  • chart your temps.  I never got a positive OPK in the first 5 months I used them.   Finally got a positive on month 6 of using them.   But thanks to charting temps I knew I was O'ing.

FWIW, CD19 is not that long to wait to O.   I usually O'd around CD22, my cycle was 34 days long.    If you  had a 35 day cycle, you will probably O between CD21 and CD25-ish.

  • I normally O between day 20 and 25. This is my first month of TTC, I'm on day 21 and my Clear Blue kit hasn't even given me the "2 bars" which indicate the fertile window before O'ing. It's frustrating for sure, but on a longer cycle this kind of thing is typical. Don't get discouraged just yet.
