All right. So my good friend is about 20 weeks pregnant and found out she's having a girl, so she and her dude went out and bought nursery furniture. Tonight she posted a picture on FB of the crib. It's beautiful and cute, but it's loaded with the softest padded bumper and I feel like I should say something, but I don't want to be *that* person.
We used a breathable mesh bumper with our DD and I am trying to word my comment so it doesn't sound like, "we did the breathable mesh bumper with our DD and we are sooo much smarter."
WWYD? I don't want to come off as bossy but I don't want to not say anything at all, you know?
Re: Soon-to-be mom friend
Eh, she's only 20 weeks. She has time to research and read and see what is said about bumpers then she can make her decision.
Because we knew we weren't going to use it once he was born, I put the bumper in the crib so we could see how cute it all looked, but once he was born and using his crib, we took it out.

I realize that you get the point that people are trying to make by now, but my general rule of thumb is this: I'll Mama the way I want to Mama and you Mama the way you want to Mama. Whether its bumpers or anything else, it's her baby - her choice. This doesn't mean we can't have fun rolling our eyes every now and then (while they're not looking)!
I outfitted DD's crib with a big, fluffy bumper. Her crib was pretty much just for show at the beginning since she was in our room in an Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper. She wasn't actually sleeping in her own crib until she was close to 6 months old and I was fairly confident by then she wouldn't be suffocated by a bumper.
I wouldn't comment on this if I were you.
