    I consider my H's cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents my family as well as his immediate family.

    I consider them family, just not my cousins. They are Molls 2nd cousins.

    My DH's parents actually ARE 4th or 5th cousins.

    Maybe not 9th cousins, but there is some relation there...
    FIL said we're 9th cousins, but FIL gets confused easily.

    Anyway, Gabriel Duvall is our common relative... Somehow.

    She was saying they share cousins because of marriage. I refer to H's cousins as my cousins or "our cousins" and they do the same. I hope nobody's ever thought I meant H and I are cousins...

    Now that she's talking about common relatives....
