Emerson is a non eater-very picky so, I wasn't ready for it. I have just started spreading a big blanket under the highchairs. When they are done I dump it all into the sink. It's amazing how messy it gets.

This. I started with a vinyl table cloth and used it til it was worn out. Now we have Floor Toppers (big reusable mats w/ Disney characters) that I just crumb/de-grease after meals. Helps a little.
Mine are almost two and STILL chuck the things either they grow tired/bored of eating or simply don't like the sides of the highchairs. Drives me batty. I should buy stock in Swiffer refills since I feel like even with mats down, they are able to demolish my kitchen floors.
I am so glad I have a dog because I don't have to pick anything up off the floor. The dog sits there between the two high chairs and catches anything that falls! He even tries sticking his nose in the seat by their legs to get food that falls there!
We have a dog too, so that's a huge help, but our beagle gained 5 lbs!!! We had to cut back on his dog food b/c he was consuming so much toddler food!
LOL!
It is so annoying how much cleaning there is to be done after toddlers eat a meal. We have a large dog and I want so badly to let him lick the floor clean but he has food allergies...ugh.

Haha, I am glad I am not the only one who sends the dog in to do cleanup! Makes it a whole lot easier, all I have to do is sanitize!
When we go to dinner, we try to clean up the best we can, but will tip an extra dollar or two for the bus boys for having to clean up after the girls!
This exactly.
I kinda want to get a dog just for this...
My kids eat a lot of meals at DC and I secretly love the fact that I don't have to deal with the mess. On weekends, we do a lot of eating outside.
