Another pumping question??

So is there ever a point where I won't have to get up in the middle of the night to pump? LO has been sleeping for at least 6 hour stretches at night and I've had supply issues so I set an alarm to wake up and pump. I know your body eventually adjusts to the times of day you need milk and such so I'm just wondering if I'm ever going to get more than 4 hours sleep at a time or am I going to have to wake up to pump until I'm done BFing. And if I can stop pumping through the night at some point... Then when? TIA

Re: Another pumping question??

  • When I was in the hospital, I talked to the LC about it. She said once you hit about 750ml per day consistently, then you can stop pumping at night. Essentially, once you hit enough milk daily, then your supply has essentially been established. Or at least that's how I figure it. You'd have to start keeping track of your milk, but we've been doing it since day one. I stopped pumping at night a few weeks ago, and I'm still getting almost 700 each day. It's been plenty for us. On days I notice my supply a little low, then I do a few nights of pumping to keep my supply up. I usually do about 9 oz each morning that I don't pump all night. You just sort of figure it out.

Wow. I could have written this post myself. Word for word. I pump every 4 hours around the clock. I hate that my LO and DH sleep while I still have to get up and pump. My parents have offered to take LO overnight so we get a break and I don't see the point since I have to get up anyway. I just don't see how I will be able to sleep comfortably with massively full boobs.
